At Blissed, it’s important that we support and highlight all members of our community. That’s why for Canada Day, we wanted to use our platform to uplift Indigenous businesses and voices. Here are 5 Indigenous-owned business to support.

Rashelle Campbell

Rashelle Campbell is the creator of the most well-known 90’s style rugs. Her bold and beautiful rugs are truly a work of art and sold throughout the country. She draws inspiration from her indigenous background which have shaped her social and political views. For every collection she releases, a percentage of her profits are donated back to Canadian BIPOC organizations. Rashelle is making an impact on our community and brightening up our homes one rug at a time.

 

Michaela Michael

Michaela Michael is the owner of Hazlewood, an independently owned shop in Saskatoon featuring vintage clothing, accessories and home goods. All her goods are thoughtfully curated from local shops in North America, with a focus on quality, design, and the use of sustainable and natural materials.

Leigh Joseph

Leigh Joseph is the owner of Sḵwálwen (skwall - win), where she creates botanical skin care products derived from the organic and pure ingredients of the Squamish plant. Her background as a researcher means she has a deep understanding of the plant and how to properly harvest it. Each of her products has a Squamish name to honor the place where the plant knowledge comes from.

Joella Hogan

Joella Hogan, of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun First Nation, is the owner of The Yukon Soaps Co. For over 20 years, her products have withstood the test of time and have become an infamous take-home souvenir item. The Yukon Soaps Co is a brand that represents a line of beautiful, hand-crafted soaps, shampoo bars, essential oil blends, and more. Hogan started the company as a way to connect people to culture and land. Her company has provided employment for youths, and has brought together both elders and local children.

Stephanie Peltier

Motivated by her grandmothers’ raw talent for art, Stephanie Peltier is a Francophone First Nations Artist from Wikwemikong who learned to design unique and exquisite earring sets. Her brand, Deliaestelle Designs, captured the attention of the organizers of the Annual Aboriginal Day Gala Silent Auction in 2017, and her jewellery has been worn by Sophie Grégoire Trudeau (wife of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau). Her work can be found in Ottawa at the Francophone Ojibway Anishinaabekwe Kwe beadwork artist.
