5 Ways to Enjoy a High by Yourself
Like wine, cannabis gets a rep for being a “social” activity. Classic images of the joint being passed around a circle of friends are so abundant that it’s easy to forget just how satisfying a solo affair can be, and that enjoying cannabis by yourself doesn’t have to mean it’s bed time.
Below, we’ll suggest some tried and true – and a few more eclectic – activities for flying solo (note: actual flying is strictly prohibited, so keep it figurative). To compliment, we’ll pair them with an ideal strain for the activity, and tell you why the suggested plant will help make the most of your alone time.
1. Do some yoga
Relaxing, uplifting, spiritually enlightening – yoga and cannabis were meant for each other, and practitioners are starting to figure it out. What’s more, the space and absence of judgement that an independent session offers can help the flow of energy and general free-ness that might be of use to less confident students.
2. Eat something delicious
Note, we said “eat” – not “cook”. Maybe that entails preparing as hearty a meal as you can muster before hitting the green, or perhaps scouting out a nearby restaurant to satisfy your craving. In fact, if consumption is the name of the game, you can’t do much better than consuming cannabis before having a tasty dish placed politely placed before you. Oh, and don’t worry about your server: They’re aware you’re high and they simply don’t care.
3. Walk through the city
If indoor activities seem too low-energy, what say you to a cannabis-infused stroll through one of humanity’s towering achievements (here emphasized by literal concrete towers)? As long as you’re up for some adventure, losing yourself in the bizarre union of commerce and culture could be just the trip your afternoon needed. Bonus points if you do it at night.
4. Listen to music
Cannabis improves many things, but music is more of a partner to cannabis than peas are to carrots. Almost as famous for its enhancement of artistic experiences as its medicinal properties, the heightened auditory awareness will turn every passing tone into a living aural expression whirring by the ear, fostering an appreciation for new-wave synth-pop that you probably didn’t think was possible.
5. Do something creative
Speaking of creativity, cannabis’ penchant for unlocking creative potential would be wasted if you don’t at least once try your hand at a creative endeavour. From more studied undertakings like playing an instrument to more pick-up-and-go activities like painting, photography, free-drawing or even writing in a journal, the process of making something where there was once nothing is eccentrically accented by the freeform thought patterns that mark a cannabis high. Even if you don’t think the result is “good”, there’s strong evidence that engaging in creative behaviours is good for you in almost every way conceivable.
