Jacqui Childs is an award winning influencer and content creator, an international best selling author and writer for KIND magazine and a podcaster in the cannabis and music space. This social media guru and model is not only a cannabis connoisseur but also a proud wife and mother.

How did you get your start in the Cannabis industry?

I started creating content and engaging online while I was in the modeling industry a little over 10 years ago. As I aged and life shifted (namely, into early menopause), I started to share my health issues online. I began doing a lot of my own research, after I encountered negative and outdated stereotypes and stigma from my health care providers. I started using CBD for Crohns, anxiety and depression, and it helped. Cannabis helped me transition from a pharmaceutical user and abuser, to a more conscious and aware advocate for my own health. I began juicing cannabis and infusing my food. I made drastic changes to everything my family ingested, how I cleaned my home and what we watched on television. I would say cannabis played a major role in these shifts.

What are some of the biggest challenges you've faced with cannabis use?

Cannabis and the community has been extremely supportive. I've been so inspired. My gratitude and excitement for the plant has of course been met with negative stereotypes and stigma. Early on in my journey, I lost most, if not all, of my brand sponsorship and partners, thanks again to the stigma and the legalities cannabis and plant medicine still are classified under, worldwide. That is why we all need to help keep the cannabis conversations in the light by sharing our journeys as openly and authentically as we can. You never know who you'll inspire. Truly, cannabis has helped me in so many ways. I’m happy to say I'm now a grower as well as an investor in the space. Cannabis helps me communicate and relate to the world on a kinder, gentler level.

How has COVID-19 affected you and your routine? How do you relax after a long and stressful day? What does your self-care or wellness routine look like?

I'm so thankful that I understand my body and mind, and its limitations. COVID-19 has been extremely challenging, thank goodness I'm better equipped to handle the challenges I (we) are currently facing, with the help of cannabis. I can only imagine where I might be today, had I not found my way to the plant.

What's next for Jacqui Childs?

What's next for me? Your guess might be as good as mine! As for now, you can find me most days in the tub with an infused bath bomb, or listening to music while enjoying some Durban Poison or Wedding Cake... without the calories ;)

I'd like to add I genuinely miss the conventions, expos and events. This industry can be challenging, but it keeps me honest and evolving. From the garden to the labs, from the Farmers to the Scientists, thank you all and I look forward to sharing space and time with you again.
