So… What Does Being High Feel Like?

If you are someone with little-to-no experience with cannabis, and want to know what to expect, we are here to help.

It is important to note that every person has different reactions, and that dosing is very important. We suggest starting with a very low dosage, and increasing as necessary.

The response time immediately after cannabis consumption, whether it be through smoking, vaping, or edibles, varies from person to person. However, through smoking and vaping, you can usually expect to feel the effects within minutes, and it will last 1-4 hours. Edibles (oils and capsules) tend to take longer — roughly an hour to kick in, and lasting 3-6 hours.

1. Things will start to “slow down.”

It will feel like the pace at which things move around you, and your ability to see things might seem like they’re slowing down a bit. This is usually a good time to just sit and relax.

2. Your senses will feel heightened.

Your ability to see, hear, touch, smell and taste feel extremely sensitive. This is why people get “the munchies”, feel like songs sound better, or that colours are brighter.

3. Feelings of stress and anxiety can slip away.

Many people have turned to cannabis to treat symptoms of depression and anxiety as it amps up your dopamine and serotonin, the neurotransmitters responsible for your body’s overall sense of happiness well-being.

Every cannabis journey is personal. If you are interested in trying cannabis, remember to start low, and go slow. We also recommend first-time users are in a quiet, relaxed environment.
